This very simple mistake may stop you from falling pregnant. Are you using a lubricant during intercourse? Did you know that most lubricants may kill sperm?
Quite a few studies looked at the effect of various lubricants on sperm. The studies looked at how well the sperm swim (motility), whether or not DNA damage occurred, and whether sperm were still alive. Popular lubricants like KY Jelly, Astroglide, and Replens were found to inhibit sperm movement and even kill sperm.
What can you use? There are some sperm-friendly lubricants available commercially, one is called PreSeed and the other lubricant is Sylke. If you would like a more natural option, you can use coconut oil. It works perfectly and if you are into healthy oils, it’s probably already in your pantry.
What can you do to avoid using lubricants altogether?
Vaginal dryness is quite often caused by a yeast infection called Candida. By following a candida diet, you will be able to improve the amount and quality of mucus, which is essential for conception.
There are plenty of websites to get information from. A candida diet requires eliminating the following from your diet:
Sugar, this also includes sugar substitutes and fruit.
Refined grains such as white flour, rice, etc.
Yeast and yeast products
How to test for Candida Immediately after rising before you eat or drink anything fill a clear glass with water at room temperature. Spit some saliva into the glass of water. You must do this before anything else enters your mouth or touches your lips. So you cannot kiss your partner, brush your teeth, drink water or eat anything before this test. Then check from time to time for up to an hour to see what happens to the saliva. If Candida is present, you will see one of three things or a combination of these.
You will need to follow this diet for at least 6 weeks. After this initial period, you can start introducing some foods occasionally, but my philosophy is following the 80/20 rule. Eat healthy foods 80% of the time and indulge your taste buds occasionally, but no more than 20% of the time.
